Austin, TX. (PRWEB) November 18, 2011
Most golfers play without the benefit of having a caddy like Mike Cowan or Jim “Bones” MacKay on their bag to “walk off yardage,” help with club selection and be a positive influence on the course. That’s the impetuous behind a new product called the LoopersApp, a new App for Smart Phones developed by Golfersadvice.com and expected in time for stocking stuffers this Christmas.
“We think most tech savvy golfers would rather get a cool, new App for their iPhone or Android… rather than another tie for Christmas,” said Denny Simmons, senior golf writer for Golfersadvice.com, who is also heading up the LooperApp program. “The LooperApp, which will do everything except carry a golfer’s clubs, is scheduled for release a few days following the conclusion of President’s Cup.”
According to Simmons, the name LooperApp comes from the term “loop,” a phrase commonly used by caddies in reference to the number of rounds they work in a day, which is why caddies are also called “loopers” in golfing circles.
Designed for robust functionality and ease of use, Simmons believes the timing was right for a true golf course App. “In one of our online surveys earlier this year, fully 87 percent of our readers said they already owned a Smart Phone, and often checked messages or texted during their weekend golf games,” he said. “Since people are already comfortable using Apps for everything from driving directions to creating their own radio stations, we felt why not try to develop an intuitive App that a player can use on the golf course to improve their game in real time.”
While the LooperApp won’t hand you a bottle of water on a hot day, or clean the face of your 9 Iron, Simmons’s believes the LoopersApp, which can be downloaded for free at the App Store, is more than just a novel Christmas golfer’s stocking stuffer and may have a real impact for recreational golfers.
“LoopersApp not only dispenses golfing tips when the user taps the App, it also enables weekend golfers to manage a number of factors relevant to their game, including yardage, club selection, wind variances and even positive bio feedback,” Simmons said. “For example, the LooperApp quickly calculates the yardage of a given hole, and suggests a club based on information you have previously ‘keyed’ into the App, such as how long you typically hit a driver.”
Once LoopersApp has suggested the proper club, a reaffirming, positive message will appear on the golfer’s Smart Phone. “It will say something like, ‘Perfect. I like the club. Just relax and just hit your shot.” LoopersApp also has an audio function, but Simmon’s believes that most golfers would rather keep the positive swing thought application to themselves, “especially when they’re playing with their golfing buddies.”
Simmon’s says what makes the new LoopersApp so unique is the fact that it quickly and seamlessly interfaces with golfersadvice.com to access the websites’ robust database of golf tips and instructional videos.
“While the golfer is deciding what club to use, all he has to do is tap the app and LoopersApp will instantly assess the situation, analyze the yardage and review the players average driving length in order to make the best possible club selection,” he said. “All this takes place in seconds, so the golfer gets personalized information, based on his or her game, which is a huge confidence boost… especially in times of indecision.”
